My Parents Want me to be a Doctor, but I Want to be an Artist!

Are you being pressured to pursue a career that does not interest you? What can you do if you find yourself in this situation?

Avisha Chugani joins me to discuss this topic.

Avisha Chugani recieved her Masters degree in College and Career Counseling at San Francisco State University in 2008. She is currently providing college and career counseling to underserved ethnic minority student populations at both the community college and university level. In addition, Avisha is part of a graduate research team whose focus is the psychological effects of racism on Asian Americans.

Prior to her graduate studies, she was a high school and transfer student Admissions Counselor at University of California, Merced in the Central Valley region of California. While at UC Merced, Avisha established the Student Transfer Outreach and Mentor Program (STOMP), which enabled underserved ethnic minority students at local Central Valley community colleges to be mentored by current transfer students at UC Merced. Avisha completed her undergraduate degree in English and African-American studies at UCLA. While at UCLA, Avisha published many articles on multiculturalism in several campus publications.
